The Metro is quite a popular way to get around the city of Moscow. Fortunately, I was in a location where it was easy to walk wherever I wanted to go. There is not much ventilation down in the subway and with the temps at or near 100 degrees, plus humidity, it was quite unpleasant down there.

• Vitaly Petrov is the first Russian driver to take part in the Formula One World Championship. They had a special event today and all the streets around the Kremlin were closed so that Petrov could have a race against another F1 driver in the streets of Moscow. Needless to say, it was packed with fans. Definitely a cool thing to see on my last day here.
• Vitaly Petrov waves to the fans.
• Hotel Savoy is where I stayed for my last 3 nights in Moscow. It is a beautiful hotel located just a couple of blocks from Red Square, The Bolshoy, and The Kremlin.
• Lubyanka is the common name for the headquarters building of the former KGB. There are three buildings that makeup the headquarters, but this is primary one that houses the prison. This building and the Lubyanka Square are just one block from the hotel where I've stayed during my wonderful trip to Moscow.
• An artist on Old Arbat Street paints a portrait of a young girl.
• On a side-street of Old Arbat is a tribute to the Victor Tsoi who was the singer of the famous Russian rock band Kino. You can read more about them at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kino_%28band%29
• Old Arbat Street in Moscow. This is the famous walking street for both locals and tourists where there are tons of shops, cafes, restaurants, and artists/performers.
• The first public library in Moscow.

• Novodevichiy Convent - Founded by Basil III in 1524 to commemorate the capture of Smolensk from the Lithuanians.
• It's common in Moscow to have wedding pictures taken near landmarks around the city. This limo was parked out front of The Cathedral of Christ the Savior. I saw brides and grooms here, at Red Square, and at Novodevichiy Convent over the weekend.
• Cathedral of Christ the Savior - The original Cathedral was blown up by Stalin in the 1930's, and was rebuilt in the 1990's. The project has been a constant nightmare because of the foundation under the cathedral not being solid.
• This is a shot of the Kremlin from the walking bridge next to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. In the foreground is the same river cruise ship that I was on Thursday evening.
• The Tsar Bell - This is the largest bell in the world, weighing in at over 200 tons. The piece that broke off weighs over 11 tons. This was the second version of the bell that was built from piece of the original that shatter during a fire in 1701. A second fire in the Kremlin in 1737 forced people to throw water on this bell which caused it to crack, and the large piece to break off.
• Ivan the Great Bell Tower in The Kremlin - Built in 1505 - 1508, and in 1600 it became the tallest building in Moscow at that time. The dome next to the tower is a four-story Assumption Belfry which holds 21 bells, the largest of which is a 64-tone Assumption Bell.
• The Great Kremlin Palace - Built in the early 1800's, this was built to be the residence of the royal family where they stayed when visiting from St. Petersburg which was the capital at that time.
